Examples of Outlines Used in Oxford-Preacher/Teacher Patterns
Using the topic of faith, these (patterns) outlines are used as approaches to the topic. The Passage cited, Example of the passage, Explanation of the passage and Passage cited as you close the point is PEEP; Choosing one of the E s, either the Example or the Explanation will allow you to shorten the point, thus PEP. -D- stands for Definitions within the context of the passage and -I- stands for the Illustration; you remember -E- stands for example or explanation within the context of the passage chosen. Now to the Question /Answer Pattern (Outline) approach:

THE NEED OF FAITH
Intro
a. A great need of our time and anytime
b. great subject, great need

I. Why is faith so important? (Heb. 11:1)
A. Without faith we can not please God -D- faith is substance and evidence based
B. W/O faith we will not be rewarded

II. How can faith be obtained? (Rom. 10:17)
A. Saving faith comes from hearing God's Word
B. Someone must speak the Word (v. 15) -I- unless someone is willing to speak

III. What are some examples of faith? (Heb. 11:4ff)
A. Abel offered a more excellent offering by faith
B. Noah moved with fear to build the ark by faith
C. Moses suffered afflilction by faith

I. THE CAUSE OF FAITH
A. So then faith comes by hearing (Rom. 10:17)-P-assage Explained -P-assage cited again
1. Hearing the word of God -I-llustrate: how do you believe something?
2. Hearing because someone was sent and spoke (context)
B. Within the miraculous time of the New Testament (I Cor. 14)
1. Faith was a gift in the early church
2. This was not the saving faith of Romans 10:17
3. This faith was a part of the early Christians service

II. THE EFFECTS OF FAITH
A. Faith brings blessings (Mark 9:23)
B. We walk by faith and not by sight (2 Cor. 5:7)
C. We please God (Heb. 11:6)
D. We are rewarded of God
E. We are qualified with faith to enter Christ (Gal. 3:24-27)

Conclusion:

Upon re-evaluation the Divide and Conquer Pattern #19 might cause the teacher/speaker to go
into another drection than facts about saving faith. The unbeliever might need to be informed
by a study of the text and designer (Hebrews 3:4 and John 8;24)
