Dealing w/ A Friend in ADDICTION or Fetish ??
HOW CAN FLESHLY THOUGHTS/DEEDS DECEIVE US ???

=Extreme words ('always', 'bigger', 'most beautiful', 'never seen this before') *
=Words of flattery ('I have sought for you only', 'you are my dreams')**
=Polished sights ('air brushed pictures, every smile, special lighting, etc. in its place)***
=Empty promises ('no diseases', 'no death', 'no heartaches caused here')****

*Proverbs 5:3-5....excessive words rarely tell the truth; hurt and ruin often follow! Since the Scripture affirms two of the three areas of life are the 1)lust of the eye and 2) the lust of the flesh, we are justified in
paying attention to the choice of words which may encourage seductive thoughts and activities!

**Proverbs 7: 5...words of seduction may be filled with flattery only; death at the end!

***I John 2:15-17...World summed up: lust of eye, flesh and pride of life; lust not love! Don't be deceived
by the floodlights which highlight the flesh, but not the
possible diseases and death which can occur. Graphics and words of this kind will present only the tempting side, never the possibility of harsh realities!

****Galatians 6:6-9...God is not going to be mocked—sow it and you will reap it!

BY RECOGNIZING THE DECEPTIVE TECHNIQUES, WE MAY FIND AWARENESS TO OVERCOME THE DECEPTIVE TEMPTATIONS. Note below the Scriptural teaching and time tested suggestions which can lead our friends to overcoming the flesh.

Remember: 'Make no provisions to fulfill the lust of the
flesh' (Romans 13:14). At this point, we have some knowledge.....

..ADD TO THIS KNOWLEDGE: 1) A TRUSTED FRIEND--'CONFESS YOUR FAULTS ONE TO ANOTHER AND PRAY ONE FOR ANOTHER' (JAMES 5); PERHAPS A GOOD DOCTOR AND SELECTED MEDICATIONS WILL BE NEEDED TO HELP YOU OVER THE ADDICTION

2) A CHANGE IN PLACES YOU GO --'WORSHIP GOD OFTEN' FINDING NEW FRIENDSHIPS ALONG THE WAY (JOHN 4:24; ACTS 20:7; I COR. 16:2); EXPERIENCES ARE NOT THE SAME WHEN YOU ARE IN WORSHIP SERVICE, ETC. GOOD, WHOLESOME PLACES, AS WHEN YOU ARE IN A RISKY LOCATION WITH RISQUE POSSIBLITIES

3) A NEW EXPERIENCE IN ABSORBING GOD'S WORD--'WE LIVE BY EVERY WORD THAT COMES FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD' (MATTHEW 4); REMEMBER, GOD HAD ISAIAH TO WRITE, 'I DECLARE THE END AT THE BEGINNING' (ISAIAH 46)

Much to do with addiction and fetish has the individual envisioning PEOPLE as OBJECTS without respect or personal feelings. To fail to see the consequence of one's action
is to be short-sighted. Jesus loved people with the love which sought the person's betterment. Remember, Jesus left
us His example that we should follow in His steps
(1 Peter 2:21ff).

Graphics and words which tend to the flesh, exaggeration or vulgar, explitive or euphomism, seek to create a picture of comparison so the viewer or reader wishes, secretly or openly, to become like the picture description. All thoughts as to the rightness of such feelings or the problems (jealousy, threats, loss of a proper value of marriage, home and children being reared, diseases or death are only a few potential problems)are forsaken to 'take in' the graphics or word (picture descriptions). Predominately, those writing bring quickly a graphic (picture, photo, computer-created image) into the description. Perhaps, this is to captivate the viewer, or reader who is a poor reader
or poor processor of words. Of course, remember the potential problems described earlier in this paragraph.

YOU WILL FIND STRENGTH TO OVERCOME ADDICTION within many of these suggestions. Your awareness of what goes into the effort to emphasize only the carnal side of life may give you strength to overcome in the struggle.......
